I'm Hot For You, Hillary (new edit)

Ben Rose has a bit of a crush on Hillary. First he was annoyed at all the hate she doesn't deserve but than he developed real feelings which needed an outlet. And she poll dances at the end.

Show Me the Love

Hey Music Lovers,
I've got 3 things.

First,
A big "Thank You" to everyone who has helped make my Wednesday night jam at Denim (950 QueenslandDrive SE) a hit. It now features live recording and a booking agent from Jake Carvin Entertainment in attendance on the first and second Wednesday of the month.

Secondly, Ben Rose and the Money will be rocking a joint called Grand Central in Okatoks this Saturday night (The 5th of May). Strangely enough the place really digs original music and you can still smoke but it's well ventilated.
To get there take highway 2a to Okatoks and turn left on Elizabeth.

And coolest of all Thirdly,
On May 10th The Ship and Anchor Songwriting Contest has the chance to immortalize me forever as Calgary's third best songwriter. For those I haven't told already, the last two years I have won Second Runner Up(third), 250$ and two Thursday night passes to the Festival. While it would
be tempting to chase the first prize of a lot more money and a chance to play a side stage at noon, I have made up my mind that I want third. I want the record to show that for three consecutive years in the mid-oughties there was only one man in Calgary trully worthy of the title,

Third Best Songwriter in Calgary
and it was Ben Rose.

The rules clearly state that they are not judging your performance or how
much you work the crowd but rather the song itself. Having observed the
contest for its first three years it seems to me that more often then not
the winner is the act that puts on the best show and has the best crowd
support. So get your asses down and shamelessly out cheer my rivals cheering
teams or you could always defect and cheer for Heather Blush. It all starts
at 7:00 pm Thursday night May 10th at the Ship and Anchor. My birthday is the day before and all I want is for somebody to meet me at the Ship at 5 for good seats.

House Party

Sorry if I seem to be harping on this, but it's a pretty cool gig. I'm happy to be doing a show in my home town and if anyone out there's going to be in Regina - come on down.

The lowdown is:
My sister, who I used to sing with when we were Regina's answer to The Partridge Family, has a doula (if you're like my girlfriend and have no idea what this is, you can look it up here) who is apparently quite the party maven back in the hood, and has thrown many a shindig to great success.

So if you're in Regina on November 18, 2006, head to 2517 Coronation Street and pay $15 at the door. If you're looking for a deal, contact kherriot@sasktel.net for $10 advance tix.

Oh, and if you come down, don't forget to BYOB. And bring one for me.

Cheers,
Ben.

Ben and 2 Girls From Edmonton

Hey Music Lovers,
As some of you may know, I entered the Ship and Anchor/Calgary Folk Festival songwriting contest this May and for the second year in a row placed third prompting some to declare me Calgarys third best songwriter. Anyway, a woman named Alexia Melnychuk completely knocked my socks off with her song for which she won best performance (and $250 more than me). She is passing through on tour with another songwriter named Lara Yule Singh and had this Friday open so I booked us a short notice gig at Central Blends in Kensington (203 19th St.SW). The show will go 8 to 11 and I will start the night off with a few special guests including a couple of my students who are too young to play the bars but might just break your heart. The coffee and food are great and the vibe will be mellow. The cover is 5$. See you there.
